Here at Smile Doctors we care about the dental health of your whole family that is why we also offer pediatric dentistry services to begin the dental health journey of your little ones!
It is recommended that a child’s first visit to a dentist be as soon as their first tooth comes out. The first visit is crucial because we want to create a good experience and impression so your child doesn’t grow up dreading or fearing to go to the dentist and they can grow up with good dental health habits.
Kids Complete Checkups
During their first visit and at least twice a year, your child should have a complete checkup so that we can stay on top of his dental development. Complete checkups include a thorough examination of your kid’s mouth, teeth, gums, jawbone, etc., to see if there are any problems or issues developing. Dental X-rays can help further evaluate the position of your kid’s teeth and how they will erupt. These checkups will also allow us to detect issues at an early stage or prevent future problems.
Dental sealants are used to protect teeth from cavities and can be applied to kids as well as adults. This is the most used and less expensive yet effective way to protect our teeth from developing caries. Sealants are clear plastic coatings that are used as a barrier for food particles or tartar and plaque buildups to get stuck in the crevices of the chewing surface of your kids’ teeth.
Fluoride is applied as a varnish to each tooth, to help protect teeth from cavities and acids from foods and drinks. The varnish helps strengthen the tooth’s enamel. Fluoride is usually applied after a professional cleaning and can be reapplied when needed.
Preventive treatments try to prevent or reduce the chances of a dental issue developing as your kid’s teeth begin to erupt. Spacers, retainers or aligners can help keep your kid’s teeth from shifting or misaligning. Mouth guards can also help protect your kid’s teeth if they grind their teeth at night or if they play contact sports.
Here at Smile Doctors, we provide medical assistance in the case of an emergency such as an injury or trauma to the mouth, teeth, gums or jaws. Seeking immediate medical assistance can help reduce the damage and pain.
